In Punjab, they say, “What you eat in the winter months nourishes you all year long!”
From delicious seasonal vegetables to broths infused with warming spices, winter food has a special kind of magic – one that heals, strengthens and comforts all at once.
At Indic Roots, we decided to stir that magic into hearty and comforting bowls of desi soups you’ll love!
Crafted with fresh, seasonal produce and balanced with a delicate mix of spices, each of these bowls is inspired by regional classics that are as familiar as they are fabulous!

🥣 Chickpea & Sweet Potato Soup
Winter’s favourite shakarkandi (sweet potato) meets the classic pairing of channa and masoor dal for a grounding dish, inspired by Punjab’s slow-cooked lentils. Spiced just right, our Chickpea & Sweet Potato Soup brings together proteins, healthy fats and gentle digestive spices for food that’s sumptuous AND smart.
🍅 Tomato Soup (Shorba Style)
Not your everyday soup, shorba has roots in Arabic kitchens and has found countless variations across the subcontinent. Our Tomato Shorba stays true to that heritage, thickened with besan instead of cornflour and tempered with spices like cloves, cumin and bay leaves for that unmistakably homely feel.
🎃 Pumpkin & Lentil Soup
Pumpkin Soup, but make it desi! In India, the humble kaddu finds many variations – a simple home-cooked sabzi or a spicy concoction served in roadside poori aloo stalls. But combine it with lal masoor dal and you get a light and yummy combo that’s also rich in plant protein and fibre. This one’s inspired by the kaddu dals of North Indian homes, gently sweet and perfectly spiced.
🌾 Sattu and Green Peas Soup
Meet the taste of India’s rural homes — sattu, roasted gram flour that has traditionally powered farmers through long, labour-intensive days. We’ve blended the power of sattu with the goodness of green peas and spices for a wholesome, protein-packed, and deeply familiar dish. This is the taste of rural wisdom re-imagined for modern lives.
🌿 Spinach Soup
Drawing inspiration from the kitchens of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, where greens and coconut milk come together in soothing stews, our spinach soup is infused with ginger, black pepper, and lemon. A nod to Ayurveda’s art of harmony – light, creamy, and deeply nourishing.
Each of our soups celebrates India’s timeless way of eating — local, seasonal, and full of quiet wisdom.
This winter, try our deliciously home-grown flavours for desi warmth that’s sure to be a soup-er hit!
All our soups are made with real ingredients and no artificial preservatives, colours, or flavours. There’s no added MSG, cream, or refined sugar, and they’re naturally lower in sodium than most ready-to-eat soups you’ll find on shelves. Because we believe your comfort food shouldn’t come at the cost of your health.
